Mission and Community Outreach

Mission and community outreach are two very important areas at the heart of our congregation. If you’re looking for a project with a good cause that will make a difference in your world, or even just in your neighborhood, become involved at Bethesda!

Making a Difference in Our Community, One Meal at a Time – Bethesda supports Our Daily Bread by serving a meal every month on the 4th Tuesday.  For additional information visit their website – https://www.ourdailybreadmot.com/

Bethesda’s congregation collects non-perishable food items to stock the shelves of the food pantry located at the Neighborhood House in Middletown. To contribute to the collection, simply bring a non-perishable food item to church with you on Sunday morning and place it in the  tub, located next to the office.

Bethesda also actively participates in the Harvest Outreach People’s Project or HOPP.   Food Distributions are the 4th Friday of every month starting at noon in our parking lot.  To learn more, visit https://thehopp.org

Our Helping Hands Committee frequently participates in mission projects that benefit our community on both local and global levels. Information on how you can help is published in our Sunday bulletin on a weekly basis.

  •  Adopt-A-Child Christmas Wishlist
Bethesda has “adopted” a local family with three children.  We are requesting multiple gifts for each of the children as well as one gift for each parent.  And we have “adopted” 25 foster children residing at the Elizabeth Murphey School.  Please use the SignUpGenius link to view the wishlist and signup to provide a gift.  Contact Nancy Cheney (302-528-8618) for assistance or questions.  The suggested price range for each gift is $30-$40.  Wrapped gifts with a gift tag “from Santa” are due to church by December 8th.

Our quilters Group meets on Tuesday mornings  at 9:30 am certain times of the year. The group compiles fabric, reading materials, and winter weather accessories and then creates warm care packages to help the homeless in the winter. No sewing experience necessary! Please call 378-2313 for more info.
